The Woodlands Maternity Photography: 6 Reasons to Take Maternity Photos: Guest Blog Dazzling Diva Photography

Pregnancy is beautiful. It’s a symbol of a woman’s strength, a sign of new life, and a picture of unconditional love. Nothing compares to the thrill and wonder of waiting for your bundle of joy to arrive. Pregnancy is a short but wonderful chapter of a family’s story—the period leading up to the moment when you get to meet your sweet baby face to face.

In anticipation of your little one’s grand debut, you eagerly feel for every bump, wiggle, and hiccup. You track your baby’s growth on an app and look forward to ultrasounds. You spruce up the nursery and brainstorm names. It’s a whirlwind of excitement!

As magical as it is, I also understand the overwhelming feeling of trying to get it all done before the due date. Preparations become a bit more challenging as you get further along. By the third trimester, not only do the nesting instincts kick in, but you may just not feel like getting out. Ordinary tasks can take the breath right out of you! One of the best ways to take a much-needed break is by booking a maternity photoshoot.

6 Reasons You Need a Maternity Photoshoot

  1. Pamper Yourself

It may sound like a lot of work to get all dressed up and strike poses for the camera, but it doesn’t have to be! Let the professionals do it all for you. Put everything aside for a moment, and schedule a full day of pampering and relaxation. Go get your hair, makeup, and nails done (and maybe a prenatal massage while you’re at it). Then, pick one of Dazzling Diva Photography’s stunning couture gowns. All you have to do is show up at The Oak Atelier, and we will provide the perfect backdrops and props. Then, Kelley from Dazzling Diva Photography will guide you through your session so that you feel confident and beautiful as you document this sweet stage in life.

  1. Celebrate Your Body

Pregnancy may be natural, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy! Your body is protecting, nourishing, and growing a tiny human! That is an incredible feat—certainly worth celebrating. You are powerful, strong, and beautiful. It may be difficult to fully embrace all the changes going on at times, but trust me mama, you are absolutely glowing! This is your time to shine and give yourself some appreciation and love. You deserve to feel like the Superwoman you are! Your maternity photographer will help you pose in a way that highlights your gorgeous glow and accentuates your growing bump.

  1. Document the Journey

While it may feel like you’re slowly counting down the days until your due date, somehow, those nine months seem to fly by. Suddenly, you’re just a few weeks away from meeting your baby! As crazy as it sounds while you try to roll out of bed or tie your shoes, these memories are fleeting. Once your baby arrives and you become wrapped up in the magic of it all, you’ll forget the way you gently rested your hands on your belly to feel for kicks and what those sweet flutters felt like. Photos are a powerful way to preserve memories and document every step of the journey. Every time you take a peek back at your maternity photos, the marvel of pregnancy will flood your memory all over again.

  1. Create Heirloom Albums

This stage is a pivotal moment for your family. Even if you don’t display your pregnancy photos on your walls forever, you will love having them in your family’s photo albums. This is where it all began. Kiddos love looking back at these sweet photos and seeing what Mom looked like as they grew inside her tummy. Then, they can flip through and see the story unfold through newborn photos, milestone portraits, and family pictures over the years. The story isn’t complete without the beginning!

  1. Help Older Children Feel Included

Just like this beautiful mom, maternity photos are a great way to get your older kids involved. There’s nothing more precious than seeing a soon-to-be big brother or sister lovingly dote on their baby sibling in the womb. Plus, you get to spend quality time with your older child and help them feel like a special part of the family and process. The transition is a huge (and maybe difficult) change for them, too.

  1. Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

Unlike other types of family photos, these have an expiration date. You have a short window to capture the beauty of pregnancy. Even if this is not your first, each pregnancy is uniquely wonderful and different. Once your baby arrives, you’re not able to go back and capture that time. The best time to take maternity portraits is between 28-34 weeks. The “sweet spot” is when your bump is beautifully round, yet you aren’t so close to your due date that you’re uncomfortable. (If you’re carrying multiples, we recommend scheduling on the earlier side in case your sweet babies make an early appearance.)
